White Bread Recipe

Recipe by: Cesarina Acosta

3 Cups of All purpose flour

1 Package of dry active yeast

1 1/2 Cups of warm water (110-115) degrees

2 Tbsp. unsalted butter

1 tbsp. Vegetable shortening

1/2 tsp. Salt

3/4 cup instant dry milk powder

2 tbsp. granulated sugar

Mix all dry ingredients together and set aside. Add yeast and a tsp. sugar to water, let it proof for about 5 minutes. After yeast has proofed, add in melted butter and shortening. Give it a stir, into your mixer with dough hook attachment, add in the yeast (assuming dry ingredients are in mixer already) turn the speed to medium and let it knead for about 4-5 minutes. You may add flour to clean up the sides as you go (no more than 1/4 cup.

While dough in kneading, prepare a bowl with oil and brush the oil all over the bowl. When dough is ready it should be a bit sticky but you should be able to handle it. Add flour to your work surface and get the dough together forming a ball. Place into oiled bowl and cover with a lint free towel or plastic wrap. Let it rest for 2 hours or until it doubles in size. This should be done in a warm place such as your microwave turned off.

While the dough rises, get your baking pan ready with non stick spray or however you want to grease it. Take the dough out and lightly deflate it, roll into a log, seam side down. Put it into baking pan and let it rest for about 30 minutes or until the top is over the pan at least 1/4 inch over. While its resting, preheat oven to 350. Than put in the oven to bake for about 40 minutes. Check on it for browning ever 10 minutes, at around 25 minutes you should put an aluminum foil tent over it, this will prevent it from browning too much.

Remove from oven once its done, with a spatula you want to release it from sticking to the pan. Remove from pan and put into cooling rack for about 30 minutes to cool completely before slicing.
